TESTIMONIOS
INTERVIEW
How do you apply ethics in your professional practice?
It definitely goes beyond the explicitly established standards, as it is based on complete transparency with the client regarding the realistic expectations of their case. It obliges me not to promote unnecessary proceedings and to always seek a resolution to the conflict.
What challenges do you find most interesting in your specialty?
It is the human dynamics behind the case file, such as the ability to guide the parties to look beyond the litigation in order to find a point of balance. In that sense, it is a technical and psychological challenge that I enjoy resolving.
How are your specializations in Procedural Law, Civil Law, and conciliation connected when advising a client?
I consider that there is a circular connection, since when advising a client, I first assess whether the conflict can be resolved through dialogue (as in conciliation); if that is not possible, I design a procedural strategy—a pathway—that allows us to defend the substantive right (Civil Law).
How do procedural strategy and conciliation influence the way you approach and resolve a legal dispute?
They are decisive. Procedural strategy can make the difference between success and failure, since even a strong substantive right can be lost due to poor management of timing or procedural stages. In addition, my training as a conciliator gives me a cost-benefit perspective, focused on efficiency and the pursuit of creative solutions that a traditional litigator might often overlook.
