How do all your areas of specialization complement each other when advising a client or an institution?
My training is intentionally cross-disciplinary. Through litigation before various public entities, I gained a clear understanding of how the State approaches and resolves legal matters; leading the legal management of several companies taught me how to anticipate risks from within; and my experience in contract law showed me that trust is built through proper safeguards. When I provide legal counsel, I do not treat these areas of specialization as separate compartments: a corporate dispute almost always has a human dimension, and a family matter often carries significant financial implications. Bringing these perspectives together allows me to provide comprehensive solutions rather than isolated legal answers.
Labor and family law often involve a significant human and emotional dimension. How do you balance empathy and active listening with the technical rigor and strategic approach required for legal representation?
By giving the case my full attention. Many times, clients come to a consultation with a preconceived idea of what the solution should be, but the most important part of communication is listening to what is not said: the silences, the doubts, and what is suggested but not fully expressed. This is often where the true underlying interest is revealed, which is frequently either simpler or deeper than what was initially communicated. Active listening enhances the technical rigor I provide because the final strategy addresses what the client truly needs to resolve, not merely what they initially requested.
You have been on both sides of the table: overseeing compliance as an advisor at SUNAFIL and representing the private and institutional sectors. How does this comprehensive perspective impact your ability to prevent legal contingencies?
My experience at SUNAFIL is complemented by having provided judicial counsel to both employers and employees. This holistic perspective allows me to deliver effective preventive and reactive legal advice in the face of any inspection or claim, combining corporate and labor law approaches while understanding in advance what each party seeks in a dispute and how to resolve or effectively mitigate it.
What differentiating qualities do you believe you bring to legal counsel when a client is facing a critical issue?
I provide surgical clarity in moments of crisis, along with a strategy built upon the development of a decision tree of possible outcomes, offering a verifiable view of the expected results. In this regard, under my guidance, clients can have the assurance that success is built upon the accuracy and truthfulness of the facts presented. More than simply providing confidence, I provide certainty in resolving their legal challenges.
